WECo Represents Wentworth at the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo 2017

November 8-9, 2017
On Wednesday, November 8th, and Thursday, November 9th, The Wentworth Environmental Collaborative represented Wentworth Institute of Technology at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.
Greenbuild is the worlds largest conference and expo that is held every year. Leaders and experts come all over the world to Greenbuild to present their ideals and passion towards green building. This conference thus helps others return to their own jobs with shared ideals and projects presented at the conference. The USGBC is a council that is committed to a sustainable future with cost-efficient projects. The council provides ways to spread awareness by offering programs, educational offerings, nationwide network of chapters and affiliates, the Greenbuild conference, and green communities.

WECo was prepared for more than a year for Greenbuild. Numerous Greenbuild sessions in Boston and many sessions on the Wentworth Campus allowed the club to both gain knowledge about Greenbuild and gather volunteer students to help at the event.
After a meeting with the heads of Wentworth, Wentworth was on board of sponsoring WECo at Greenbuild. Members of the club and a few faculty members were allowed to table at Greenbuild for free.
At the Conference, WECo and Wentworth had two tables. One represented WECo and the other represented Wentworth's College of Professional and Continuing Education. At the WECo table, the club was able to present past and future projects. Mainly, the E-Bar, the Evans Way Park Clean Up, and the Muddy River Emerald Necklace Bridge Project. At the CPCE table, Wentworth presented information about their continuing education program such as the graduate programs.

The members of the club took turns tabling WECo's table and networking with companies at Greenbuild. Those who were at the table gave information about the club and events. Those who networked were able to speak with future Co-Op employers. Also, students were able to view amazing projects that employers were showcasing. Some projects included portable homes, solar panels, Tesla Vehicles, and many more. There were special sessions through out the day such as guest speakers like Bill Clinton and a Wentworth Alumni Social Gathering.
Overall, the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo was a fantastic conference to go to. Students of WECo were able to get ideas for future projects on campus. One idea that was brought to campus that students liked were Tupperware machines around campus to replace current food containers. Student were also able to network with employers, as well as, the feeling of school pride for representing Wentworth.
